Long time canoeing, but first time kayaking...
Any opinions on most comfortable PFD to use with the seats in this inflatable kayak on flatwater? Half-mesh back or full floatation back PFD?
Thanks for any insights.

Welcome to the forum

The best advise I can give is to visit a shop that sells a wide range of PDF'S
try them and see what feels and fits the best for you.

Bearing in mind you will be sitting up nearly strait for sometimes long periods.
so a pdf thats very bulky to the rear will be of little use.

My opinion only.

After lots of research and reading various reviews
My wife and i have just bought the Astral V-Eight with the half-mesh back and
Airescape system ,special air vents and foam with a sort of fine waffle pattern on the inside ,so no sweating.
All i can say is that after five minutes you forget you are wearing a pfd!

I am not usually one for endorsing products , so won`t post any links ,but i wanted a comfortable ,very well ventilated one that cleared the backrest completely , it does both very well.
Worth every penny , or in my case eurocent.

I use the same PFD as you do, Timbo, and I'm very pleased with it. It's a perfect match for the seat in my 1012. As you said:
