In our converible I use foam under the seats for two reasons. Firstly, it gives my smaller wife a bit of a lift and places her in a better paddling position (she has deeper foam than I have). Secondly, the foam lifts the seat sufficiently above the floor to keep it above any water that may be on the floor helping to keep the seat dry.

I simply bind together with duct tape a few of these foam squares you can buy for hillwalking (Ithey cost about £1 each in the UK). Duct tape can also be used to create a sort of sleeve that means the foam can be attached to the seat.

It is a good idea too to have some added foam depth at the front to give a little further lift for the legs. This may help a little with numbness.
