Hey guys well after a month of making my kayak sail it's done and working 100% complete. I had to do some tests runs which had some major flaws in the design but after that I got it working really well. I wanted to have this sail because some of the places I go to are quite far and when I come back the wind is always blowing from behind me.
For the sail itself I used .75oz ripstop nylon and garden tomato poles. The sail was all put together with 3M sail tape, it's really the way to go now with making sails and kites. The stitching method with thread actually causes tears and rips quicker and over time the taping method is much stronger.
The base was very hard to make because I use an inflatable kayak and seeing my video is really the best way to describe it.
Well with out due here we go!!!

I loved your videos, very inventive. What do you use for a rudder?

actually you don't really need a rudder because you aren't really going sideways....you're just just using the wind that comes from behind, hence it's a downwind sail. I use my paddle to steer the kayak, to be honest all you have to do is do little adjustments here and there or you can just paddle like normal. When the wind picks up you really start to feel the kayak go 20% faster than just paddling!!!
