|
|
We are about to purchase our first inflatable canoe (StraitEdge).
It is going to be used for camping and fishing by two persons plus gear (tent, packs, etc.).
I am about 185lb + my wife 140lb. It leaves 75lb for a gear. Can anyone tell how strict is this requirement? What if I go 10lb above?
Any advise or comments are much appreciated. |

My advice for baggage is to have some practise sessions with various ways of loading your new boat. Tip the boat over on purpose in safe conditions, first unloaded and then loaded. It's my opinion that you will be more able to handle an accidental flip if it isn't the first time you've fallen out of the boat.
I think that seeing how your loads are affected by flipping over is important. Is everything secure? Is every bag watertight that has to be? You don't want to find out on a camping trip that you should have put the sleeping bags in a plastic garbage bag before putting them in a "drybag." |

The weight limits are fairly generous. An extra 10 lbs. won't affect it that much.
