When inflating, in the instruction, it says to inflate the main chamber 1/2 way (or so the kayak looks 1/2 inflated). Then the secondary chamber to firmness. Note: I am going from memory here. I noticed that I was pumping approximately 40 pumps into the first chamber and then 27 in second. Should I be pumping an even number of pumps into each, for example 33 to 34 in each tube or should the 1st one be more?

You want to try to get an even amount in each chamber. The reason being that if one chamber gets punctured then you have enough air in the other to keep you safely afloat in order to paddle to shore. For instance, if you did about 15 strokes in chamber one and then did 50 in chamber two and then you paddled and chamber two got punctured, you would have hardly any air in chamber one to keep you afloat. You still have the coaming chambers, deck lifts and floor to help out but it also depends on how much weight is in the kayak. You can do you best but if you are off a little, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. It is fairly rare when we hear of someone puncturing their tube while paddling.
