So last week I had two paddles in and nearby Giethoorn (which is called Venice of the North or Netherlands). I thought I would share some pics:

So this is what you get in Giethoorn, it's taken in the early morning so no tourist yet to disturb my photo:

Then if we leave the town of Giethorn we come in a nature reserve called de Wieden:

A stork (did not bring a good zoom lens)

Some Geese making a stop on their way to Africa

A sea-gull resting on a pole

People sailing with a punter (a small boat that normally is pushed by a long stick - just like the people in Venice do)

A little windmill to get water in the reserve:

A lakeside house:

The downside of a tourist attraction, that most people view from the water, near a nature reserve is that it becomes busy with boats. Mostly with people who do not understand the fact they should shut up if they want to see something.

So the next paddle was in a nearby reserve called 'de Weerribben'. It's less busy here (not in summer). Some pics:

You could visit flowershows or just find beauty in nature itself:

Kermit Wink

His brother:

Kermits dinner:

(sitting in a kayak and with low light this is really the best I could do)

You can't dislike them if you are a paddler, can you:

And at the end there is.... the end

Hello, Diemonde, nice pictures of Venice of the North. Beautiful cloudy skies. Perhaps we can contact to make some paddles. For example in the Biesbosch, when snowy. Houdoe. Greetz. Adrie Jonkers.
