Mildew

Thanks for the suggestions. I did use mild dish soap and let the fabric sun dry. It looks a lot better, just not totally gone.

Lemon Juice won't bleach the fabric? If not, I'll give that a try.

Also, would spraying the fabric with waterproofing prevent future mildew ?

Thanks much,
Fran

Mildew Removal

I just unpacked my AE Advanced frame from winter storage in garage.
It seems to have picked up many mildew spots, like dot size specs, on the orange fabric. What can I use t safely remove this mildew?

I will bring the kayak indoors this winter! ( Ilive in the rainy Pacific Northwest!)

Thanks,
Fran

Alleghal;
Go with the AF 10.5. I've got one, it's great. I'm 58, female, small framed and it's about all I'd want to carry. Easy to set up and get onto the water with. It's stable, tracks well, a joy to use. I'm a lake user.

Leash on Paddler

Yes, I have secured my paddle to the kayak as you describe. I wouldn't want to be without a paddle! But I wonder how many of us thought of tethering ourselves to the kayak? It could be a non-confining length, maybe 8'?

Great photos!

Thanks for posting the photos. It was great to see our kayaks being used in those nice warm places. Here in Bellingham,WA, it's cold, windy and rainy till April.

Thanks,

Leashes, anyone? For our Safety

Does anyone use a leash to keep yourself connected to the kayak? What about a leash from the paddle to the kayak? There was recently a fatality in Bellingham Bay where the paddler did not have either of these, and it could have helped save his life. He was using a solid fiberglass kayak. Any opinion...

I, too, like the idea of a 'backpack' with rollers. I'm trying to make one myself, actually. But I'd buy one if you folks made one for the AE AF single kayak, which I own.

Thanks anyway. They are great kayak!!!

First Paddle

I took the kayak to Lake Whatcom, which is a large lake in Bellingham and it's primary drinking supply. The lake is only about a mile from my house. I hope to also use it on Lake Padden, a way smaller body of water that is part of a local park, and no houses are on it. I am looking for mild upper bo...

Airhead Performance Paddle Very Good!

Finally tired out this paddle with my AE1002 10.5 ft. Excellent paddle, lightweight and kept me going for a couple of hours. I'm a 5'2 lightweight female, so that's saying alot.

Got the paddle at Walmart online for about $24. Had it sent to store.

Happy Paddling!

Coleman Rechargeable quickpump

Does anyone use this pump? I tried it the other day. I had to put the 1 and 2 valves in the deflate postion to get air into their chambers. That was ok, but I had to move quickly and pop the valve stem closed after removing the pump nozzle. I thought these chambers could have used more air, but didn...

Paddle choice

Thanks for the reply, feldmarshal. I found an Airhead Performance paddle online and oreded it, after going to a local Backcountry Outfitters store. That store had pretty expensive lightweight paddles, and 1 used one that was heavy. After checking around online, I decided to order the Airhead. It see...

Paddle recommendations

Hello,
Just bought a used AF 10.5' kayak, '05 model. I'm looking for an inexpensive, lightweight paddle for recreational paddling. I'm 5'2", 108lbs.
What do paddlers recommend?

This is an interesting site. :D

Thanks,
Fran
