It would be a good design change to allow the Bottom Bracket to mount directly to the front and back internal skegs, that way misalignment would be near impossible. It would also enhance overall rigidity slightly.

Dura-Floor?

There is no "Buy" link on the product page, is it sold out? Back ordered? if not, where can I order it?

As for seats, I knew before my first pump that I would need something stiffer and taller. So I ordered this one, took the buckles off, put the clips from my AE seat on, added a couple of zip ties for security and voila... A seat that works for someone over 6 ft tall. http://www.austinkayak.com/produ...

The Dura-Floor goes on top of the drop stitch or regular floor as a extra layer of puncture protection, esp if you take dogs in your boat, but also if you do a lot ingress/egress I imagine.

My experience as a Clydesdale..

I am uniquely qualified to comment, as I weigh almost 300 lbs, have the Convertible (as well as a couple other AE Yaks) and have actually kayaked VERY near you (as well as the Pacific, and Salish Sea/Puget Sound areas). First off on price. I priced out a hardshell and for my height and weight it wou...

Good idea! I will. Maybe cut in half. May take the Big Yak to Cozumel in May so it would be a good test, kind of windy there too. Thanks Instead of a pool noodle, try a pipe insulation tube. Looks like a pool noodle except it's black, much narrower, and has a long slit along it. The insulation is me...

Probably won't work. Those noodles are pretty big and the combination of them along with the rigid dropstitch floor may not have enough room in the kayak. You can try it out but it is usually best to have one or the other. JCOOLEY, more people are reporting they are using both the DS floor and BB w...

Same issue, having both the Convertible and 2 Expeditions we found with the convertible the BB would often move or slip. Ideally, in Version 2 of the boat, the BB would lock into the front and back skegs making realignment unnecessary. Just pump and go. Right now we inflate the boat 80%, turn the bo...

We have taken ours offshore about 2.5 miles in both the Atlantic off the Keys for snorkeling and Puget Sound, but only with precautions. All areas we travel are heavily boated. We have both the Convertible and 2 Expeditions. The boats are stable in rough seas even in 3-4 foot white caps we got tosse...
