I have 2 Expeditions and use mine for fishing a lot. I do most of my fishing on the ocean and with the room and the stability of the Expedition it's a great fishing platform. I do use them for creek paddling also and they work well for that also. If you plan on paddling real small creeks then a smal...

Re: Attaching D rings, cleats, etc
I use Easy Clips to strap on my milk crate fish box for fishing and also to hold on my waterproof camera bag. The clips can be clamped on the folded rail seam that goes all the way around the kayak so you can strap things where ever you want. I use the clamps and bungy cords and have never had any p...

The one thing that the Expedition wins at is versatility. It may not be as fast as a long hard shell but it can go to a lot more places and therefore gets used a lot more. I use mine all year long in fact I was out a couple of days ago in the river estuary even though the shoreline was covered with ...

The glide and speed and tracking are better with the backbone but it does take a little longer to set up but I think it's well worth the effort. I use the backbone all the time in my Expedition and find that the speed isn't too bad at all. I think it depends on what type of hard shell kayaks your co...

Well it doesn't look like this change has helped with the pricing because I just got a call from Alberni Outpost and they quoted a price of $99.98 plus $40.00 shipping plus tax. I have really enjoyed my kayaks and have gotten a lot of use out of them and should have been more careful when using them...

Canadian Retailers!
What has happened to the Canadian distributorship? The local dealers I've called are all saying that they no longer carry Advanced Elements because they have to deal out of the US rather then through Canadian distribution. I'm looking for a replacement floor for one of my Expeditions and it looks lik...

Re: 303 Spray on chamber covers?
There are quite a few different products that do the job I used the one that a local marine supplier had on sale and it worked real well and was easy to use. I sprayed the outside of both of my Expedition kayaks with one 22 oz. bottle without any trouble. I didn't spray the inside but will try it ne...

I didn't really need the extra D-Rings until I started fishing and with the Nylon cover on the Expedition kayaks I wasn't sure how well the glued on ones would work. With the PVC on the Straight Edge kayaks the glued ones with the backing look great and are tough enough to handle fishing abuse. I'm ...

Re: Adding D-Rings to your kayak.
I found another method that has worked real well on my Expeditions without gluing or cutting. I use these tarp clamps to bungy down my fishing crate and my waterproof deck bag because the existing d-rings weren't in the right location. I just put the tarp clamps on the big folded seam that holds the...

Windnut, The earlier version of the Expedition did not have the velcro strips. Yes by the ID numbers one is a 2009 and the other is a 2010 so that would explain why the 2009 has no velcro. As far as speed I don't have much to compare them to having only used small plastic rec kayaks which are slowe...

No problem there because I don't care what anyone thinks about my kayaks, it's just that sometimes I'm surprised by the elitist attitude by some sales people. With the economy you would think that any sale would be good and insulting the customer isn't smart. I've seen what affect the elitist attitu...

Don't get me wrong I wasn't complaining about the Expedition at all I've had nothing but a great time with it. It's just that I've only gone out by myself and have put on a lot of miles in different types of weather and conditions without a problem. The last time I was out upon returning to the laun...

Velcro Positioning Strips
Do all of the Expeditions have the Velcro strips? A few months ago I bought 2 used Expeditions and at the time inflated both and checked them out but have only used one myself while the weather was colder. Today I inflated the other one again to spray on some waterproof coating and noticed that it d...
