Split covers

The tubing covers on my Elite split (the inner tubes are ok) meaning that the tubes bulge out. Does it pay to repair this, or buy a new tube cover? Doing this oneself is a daunting task, as the valves have to be cut and removed, then reassembled. Is it cheaper to just renew the whole side, including...

Backbone interchangeability

Is it possible to use the backbone from a convertible on the expedition? There is a 12 inch difference in stated lengths (of backbone). I have the convertible, and am thinking of acquiring an expedition (older model), and have replaced the floor in the convertible with drop-stitch, so I have a backb...

Back on the seat

I am still trying different solutions for a stable and comfortable seat for solo use on the convertible. I couldn't help but notice that on the AE products page, the elite version shows two different seats - one resembles the one used on the AE1041 (with a thicker sitting base). Are these available ...

I have both the original AF and the Elite, which share the same design of end pieces. When I started using the Elite I always found myself getting wet legs, even in still water. As I only used the Elite for short bursts, I put this down to the water my neoprene boots carried into the cockpit, until ...

Seats - securing and alternatives

I have been out in the convertible a few times now and am very pleased with it. I have not, however figured out how to secure the seat backs to the kayak itself. Securing the clips aft of the seats is no problem. I also wondered whether there would be any (comfort) advantage by buying a third-party ...
