Paddling in Ontario
This spring was long, cold and not very friendly to the paddlers here in Southern Ontario. Nevertheless the season was open on the Georgian bay in Massasoga Provincial Park. Second trip was to the Long lake in Kawartas. Detailed description and pictures on my blog Yaktraveller

P.S. Mikhail, look at these sites. It's not about kayaking, but about photography. Andrei is an old friend of mine.

Hi Mikhail, Fantastic trip, fantastic pictures! Congratulations! Your experience inspires others and shows advantages of Advanced Frame Kayaks once again. I myself put everything needed for two of us for the overnight trip into my AF Convertible (West Marine too), but your pictures showing numerous ...

Your list is really impressive! I don't know numbers for inflatable kayaks in Canada but it can be comparable. You know - it's canoe country. But for many urban people residing in building apartments inflatable is the only choice and I'm sure AE is the best. Following me my friends in Seattle, WA al...

Thank you for sharing this important experience. I read it carefully knowing that one day it could be of use for me too. It's well written and I have only one question: what type of duct tape did you use? By the way, I recently tested the new AE Rapid Up Sail. Pictures and video are at: http://yaktr...

Two more trips end of April, beginning May! Bottle (Lake) uncorked! And then the new AE Rapid Up Sail tested on the Indian River near Warsaw (Ontario, not Poland). Thank you for bookmarks and explanations! You are so generous! I read it and I think I can go ahead with my idea because restrictions aren't too strong for the recreational Inherently Buoyant Life jackets (foam panels). In any case I'll obviously test them in summer when the water will be warmer :-)...

Good point, PJohanson. I never thought about legal issues and PFD certification. Generally it might be serious not so much at inspection as at any insurance issues. Anyway almost any PFD doesn't cover my waist and in some way interfere with the seat back (I'm 6' with the long back). On the other sid...

Hi diemonde, You are right, but I didn't use spray skirt on the flat water and some minor amount of water went into kayak from the paddles (It's common problem almost everybody mentioned on this forum). This is not my invention to put something like air-cushion under the seat. My invention is to put...

I'm going to use my life jacket as an additional support for my back. The jacket I have was bought at the Canadian Tire (~$39) and has a thick and rigid enough back but is short for me and even interfere with the back of the seat. My idea is simply to cut jacket on the shoulders and insert an additi...

Opening a Season
Hi everybody! I proud to announce that I opened Inflatable Kayak Season in Ontario on April 3. It's unusually early for us (unlike Singapore or Dominican Rep etc). You can find a short report in my blogs at : http://yaktraveller.blogspot.com/2010/04/season-is-open.html and/or http://www.outdoorsica....
