Sounds a useful accessory.
One point I'd make to Tee though. I think they use bungee to keep the skeg down, because if you go into shallow water, or over a snag, it will allow the skeg to lift rather than cause damage.

I've reported umpteen spammers, but the only time we see them is after they've made a nuisance of themselves. Would it be possible for the admins to set the attributes for new members to moderated, so their first post needs approval? Once they've posted a legitimate note, they could be taken out of ...

I may decide that something just for fishing or something to sail. If i have too then maybe extra two craft. Well there's a fishing version of the Straitedge, or maybe you'd prefer a hardshell sit-on-top. Someone recently mentioned a very nice outrigger-sail-leeboards sailing setup which fits the c...

why not look at a canoe type, rather than a kayak, so you have more variety to choose from? either a Straitedge or Friday Harbor Adventure look interesting. Or if you want to go for higher performance, maybe an Airfusion?

Interesting idea, the kayak/bike/kayak ride. Will you be transporting the bike on the kayak, or collecting it at the landing place?

What sort of fish was the stinging one? At a guess it's spines on the dorsal and pectoral fins that are dangerous? They look a bit thicker than needed for swimming..

Hi,
I don't have this model either, but a group of sea-anglers in Wales tested one and have put a review on http://www.northwaleskayakfishing.co.uk/id204.html

Looks as if they like it.

I had a thought about leak finding after my last post (good old sleeping subconscious). If you have somewhere dry, large enough to lay out the kayak outer skin, then cover the floor in newspaper, lay the skin on top, and add water inside it, being careful not to spill on the paper. Leave it overnigh...

I always have water inside as well. I suspect for the reasons JCooley says. I don't really know how I could find if there was any leak though. From the amount that's got in over an afternoon I don't think I could spot a leak dripping at that rate using his test in step 5. It's done it from new thoug...

AE kayak spotted in unrelated video

Checking how the awning which came with my van goes up, I found this video http://www.khyam.co.uk/image/products/video/Motordome_Awning_Connection_Via_Cassette_Awning.flv There's an inflated solo kayak on the roofrack of the VW camper used in the demo. I suppose it could be a different brand, but it...

I didn't post on this before, even though my AE convertible is green, as it's a very different green to the colour in your picture above. I have both decks, but JCOOLEY said above that if eBay failed you only had the option of the Orange/Red from AE. Couldn't he buy an AE green? It wouldn't match ei...

Hi again, A further thought. I saw you said that you're a beginner, well so am I really, and I also read everything I could before buying and trying out. What I found was that all those references to steering using a 'sweep' stroke didn't mean what I thought they meant! I thought they meant if I wan...

If you're not using a backbone, and you're sure the floor and cover are straight, the next thought is, are you keeping level? If the paddler at the back is leaning to the side, to look around the front paddler, or either paddler isn't sitting centrally, then a kayak will turn. It's a little confusin...
