Kayak Camping along the Rideau Canal

Post by Jaygee » Sat Jul 19, 2008 8:52 am

I purchased my AE Airframe single early 2004 and have paddled it extensively. Last year I decided I needed a faster boat and acquired a Folbot Cooper (16.5 ft folding kayak) and the AE basically stayed in its bag all year. This spring I took it out for a short paddle and "re-discovered" how nice a boat it is! It is sooo easy to set up, paddles beautifully and is very comfortable - I fell in love with it all over again.
I then discovered this AE website and after reading Paddlesheeps's blog about kayak camping, I decided to try a camping trip with the AE. It worked great! It was still very easy to paddle, even fully loaded with gear and was still very comfy! And extremely easy to portage!!!
Here are some photos of my trip this week along a stretch of the Rideau Canal (it is in Eastern Ontario and runs from Ottawa to Kingston).

Loaded and ready to go:

Awesome shots Jaygee. I've always wanted to paddle that area some day.
