Sales and Bargains

Post by Daddy-O » Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:04 pm

I thought it would be good to have an on-going thread dedicated to letting each other know of good deals that we run across. I'll start it out. I just purchased three Stohlquist Betsea pfd's. They have the Chili (red) pfd on sale at campmor.com for $49.96. I think they are normally about +/- $100.00. They also have the MTI Orleans size xs/s for 29.96 (reg. $60.00). The REI outlet has a throw bag (w/ 50ft rope) on sale for $27.93. I hope you guys will add some bargains to this thread to help out your fellow 'thrifty' kayakers.

I don't know how long this deal will last. Purchased one for backcountry paddling. Large capacity, good quality with throw rope included for hanging in bear country.

Wilderness Systems Touring Sprayskirt - Adjustable

Post by mtpaddler » Tue Sep 09, 2008 11:32 am

I just received a sprayskirt from Sierra Trading Post.
The large fits my AE Convertible nice and snug.
Just in time for cooler wetter weather.
For $20.00 it seems like a great deal.

PJohanson was talking about the SPOT in this thread: http://www.advancedelements.com/phpBB2/ ... sc&start=0 . I just noticed that rei.com is offering a 20% discount on any one item for rei members. They are also offering a $50.00 rebate on the SPOT if purchased before the end of December. That means that you can purchase the SPOT for about $70.00 after the rebate. You will have to add a $99.00 annual subscription for the service. It is a great price for the protection that it offers (IMO).

***EDIT***
After typing this out, I went to rei.com to purchase my SPOT only to find out that any gps or locator-type devices are excluded from the 20% discount. Bummer. I guess you can still get the $50.00 rebate though.

I don't want to alarm anyone, and I may be mistaken, but it is my understanding that the 2009 kayaks are going up in price just a bit. I heard that before today, then noticed (just today) that West Marine has raised the price of their Convertible just a bit. If you're on the fence about purchasing a new AE kayak, you might want to do it before everyone sells off their 2008 line. Maybe Jeremy could verify the slight price increase on the new line.

Upcoming Canadian Specials

Post by KayakGuru » Wed Mar 25, 2009 11:02 pm

Hey Steveston Marine & Hardware has a great deal on a lot of these kayaks in Canada. I believe they actually ship worldwide. I bought an AdvancedFrame convertible kayak and love it. I think they have it on for $799 CDN. A lot of their specials aren't listed on the website its actually best to call one of their stores, you can pretty much get a deal on anything you want to buy.

Website is stevestonmarine.com
I call 1-866-986-2628 from Sydney and have stuff shipped to me all the time, great company to deal with.

Dragonfly 1 and 2 XC's on sale at REI outlet

Post by Glacier » Tue Apr 28, 2009 6:22 am

Just wanted to post that the Dragonfly XC's are on sale at the REI outlet for $199.00 for the single and $299 for the double w/foot pump included.

We just ordered two Dragonfly singles to go with our two Advanced Frames so we can go with guests. I can't believe we even did that as we haven't tested any of them on the water yet - tooooo cold. We are pretty sure we're are going to like all of them based on reviews. Should be able to test next week and will post our impressions of both!

West Marine 10% discount + free shipping on July 15 only.

Post by lbang » Wed Jul 15, 2009 12:23 pm

Saw this today at West Marine (www.westmarine.com), and valid only for today.

Looks like a good deal so I ordered the WM version of AE convertible Kayak ($450) and paddles. Only thing is the Kayak backordered. :( Hopefully WM ships it before Summer is over.

Maybe it's good for the accessories you've been looking for too.
