leaking deck

Post by Matt02 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 8:00 am

Hi

Another question for you all.

I know this has been discussed many times, but can't see an answer to my query.

On my last outing I noticed i lot of dripping on my legs, I have a skirt also.

It has only become a problem now because due to severe dead leg, I have changed my seating position so my knees are no longer pushing up on the deck as much.

I have come up with a simply DIY fix to lift the deck which will prevent pooling around the zip.

My question is, will sitting water on the deck penetrate through the polyester decking material. So, is all the water coming in through the zip or will it come through the fabric as well? I ask because i notice drips on the floor well away from the top of the zip, could be that it has come from the top of the zip and rolled down the underside of the deck before falling?

In a nut shell, is the deck material water proof?

yes, the deck material is waterproof. The deck has a pvc backing.

Expedition Zipp not waterproof???

Post by Zak » Tue Jun 27, 2017 8:42 am

Hi.
Any idea why the top deck zipp of the AE Expedition isn't waterproof and is rainining inside when is raining outside?

Such a good quality kayak and the zipp is worst than the zipp on my cheap waterproof raincoat? Why? :(

Any idea how to make it waterproof?
