Holes at seams

Post by NelsonP » Fri Sep 15, 2017 9:28 am

This is the second summer that we have been using our Advanced frame convertible 2pers. kayak.

The first year we had no issues but just one week ago, the side chambers developed a hole at the seam when we were in the middle of a river, high cliffs at both sides. We managed to get ashore, patched the hole but a second one appeared else where on the seam. We patched that one as well, but a third hole appeared. We patched the third hole but a fourth and fifth appeared. Sometimes next to eachother, other times at the other side of the boat.

As we were on a quite inaccessible river when the holes appeared and our kayak was our only way of transport, several times we only just got back to shore before the kayak completely deflated. We let the patches we used to fix the holes dry overnight, but that meant we were quite stuck in the middle of France - no public transport.
We have really lost confidence in the kayak now and are afraid to use it on rivers, camping trips or too far from the shore on lakes for fear that it will deflate without warning.

We always inflate to the correct pressure using a gauge so I am not sure why this is happening.

Is there anyway that Advanced Elements can manufacture tubes without seams because this seems to be a real weakness with the kayak. Is there anything we can do to fix the kayak? We've been getting new holes every day, on the same seam.

We tried to contact both our local seller and advanced elements itself, but haven't gotten a reply.
