Valve placement on AirVolution

With the two valves on opposite sides of the kayak, I have a choice. Either I must reach over the kayak to access the far valve or I have to walk around to the other side. Reaching over stresses my back so I take the walk.

Is there a reason the valves can't be on the same side?
