Spray Skirt / Cockpit coping modification

I have just read a post dated 2012 (headed Short Review on the Air Fusion) by Tee Loo in which he mentions re aligning the coping so that the inflation tube is with in reach when sitting in the kayak and also altering the elastic in the spray skirt so that the excess falls at the front rather than at the back where it interferes with securing the skirt onto the coping. Has anyone tried them? Did they work? Thanks
