Hello from Austria

I just got my AE Convertible and though I wasn't able to get it in the water yet I already love it. I am new to kayaking and I will try out a lot of hints and tipps mentioned in this great forum.
All the best and lots of greetings from Austria

Welcome! I hope you can get out in your boat soon. Kayaking is even better when you get on the water!

Broke a lot of stuff already in the living room, just trying to turn the boat around. Can't wait for going to the lake on weekend!

That's great ChrisP. I'm glad you're going to finally get out! Living room kayaking can be so dangerous--to stuff!

Hope you have a great time on the lake with your new kayak! Be safe with your life jacket too! And tell us all about it.
We finally made it into the water!

No spraydeck, no lifevest and just the experience of watching hundreds of how-to youtube-videos. We went to a lake (reservoir) about half an hour up the mountain. It was cloudy and about 12° C and just a little windy but anyway. You have to do, what you gotta do. We set up the boat in less than ten minutes. Than we put our watertight bag on deck with the bungees and gave it a try. To get in the boat was really easy though a little water came in with our shoes.
We glided smoothly through the water and the first thing was, that I watched carefully for any mistracking by stopping paddling. The AEC just glided straight ahead and not the slightest turn at all. I will install the backbone next time to see what's happening then.
Even my wife wasn't as exited as I was, we managed to paddle simultaneously most of the time. In the middle of the lake the sun came out and it was exactly how I wanted it to be in the first place... Quiet, the water like a mirror simply amazing. And, the best, my wife started to like it.
After about an hour we decided to go back to from where we started because it became more cloudy.
We waited about 15 minutes to give the boat a little time to dry. The deflation and to put the boat back into the bag took about 10 minutes. We will completely dry the boat at home.
It is a wonderful quality kayak, at least as far I can tell.
Next week the bb, the decks and lifevests will arrive and I cannot wait to go out on the water again.

Sounds like you had a great time. And summer is coming, too...
Glad to hear you're expecting some life jackets too -- they really do help for safety!

That's what the old lady was worrying about. life jackets. Even if everything seems to be save she is right. Especially in our case... no clue, no idea, no experience!!!!
I'll wait for the next adventure till the pfd's are here.
But again... kayaking is just awesome. Thanks AE
