How does the skeg pivot?
Is it spring loaded up, and so pulled down into the water?
Can I easily move it up and down just by the single cord? Is tension on the cord required to keep the rudder in place?

Thanks
Tee

Pivots by pulling the line. Not spring loaded. To keep the skeg up, you will need to pull the line and tie it off.

Mh... I am still a bit confused on how it works.

So what you are saying, is that the skeg normally is fully down and you need to pull the line to bring it up and hold/tie off to keep it up.

What keeps it down when kayaking? Won't the water resistance push the skeg upward or is there too much friction in the hinge? I presume the skeg does go up when you hit the ground (shallow waters).

So does the skeg lower when the line is loosened?

Sorry for all my questions, I just like to know how it technically works.

The skeg has a small bungee that locks it in the down position.
