I'm having a hard time figuring out how to install the appropriate backbone for the AE1007. it isnt long enough to fit on each of the sidewalls as described in the directions (the photo cut out). Is it supposed to lay underneath you while you sit in the kayak or on the side along one of the innertubes? how should the blades fit? I took it out yesterday and one of the blades almost pierced through the bottom of the 'yak.

Thanks.

The box the Backbone came in says what model it is for. The blades wedge just were the inner tube curves (the curve that you can see if you poke your head inside the kayak). The convertible Backbone is the longest backbone so if the one you have doesn't even reach the tube in the front and back then you may have the wrong size. The backbone does not go all the way into the front and rear of the kayak!

Thank Jeremy. I know I have the right one, my expectation was that it would reach to both ends. Now that I know it is not supposed to, I'll simply tuck the blades under the inner tubes where they curve. BTW--your input throughout this forum is invaluable!
