Durafloor necessary with dropstitch?

Post by Peds109 » Fri Jul 27, 2018 6:06 pm

I was hoping to start taking out my 2 dogs (separately) in my expedition. I thought that unzipping the front plus the flat dropstitch floor would make a nice platform area for them.

One of the 2 dogs has naturally long and sharper nails so it made me nervous. I came across the durafloor and the description was perfect. However, I talked to someone and they told me to hold off for 2 reasons:
1 - the dropstitch floor is supposedly rugged enough on its own where it’s essentially puncture proof.
2 - the inflation valve on the DS floor doesn’t align with the durafloor. Meaning, it has to either be added after the floor is inflated, or an additional hole needs cut.

Does anyone here have experience with the DS floor and durafloor combined? Did you feel it was necessary? How did you install it? Any feedback?
