AE2013 - IMPROVED DESIGN

Post by dspid2404 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 5:15 pm

I noticed on the Advanced Elements website that the AE2013 seat has been improved. The back seems to have been made higher. I checked your distributor sites (i.e. Airkayaks, Amazon) and they still show the old style. Is this a REALLY new design? Has it been sent out to distributors yet?

Yes, we have changed the design. The new lumbar seat has a high support seat back with stiffener rods. It will be available this fall for purchase.

As I currently in contact with a store for these seats I actually wondering the same. If there is no new serial numbers how can we tell (what can I tell the store owner to look for).

The new seat will have the same part number as the old seat. However, the old style seats will be discontinued when the new seat comes out this fall.

Just ask for the New HIGH-BACK Lumbar Seat.

I thought it would be smart to create an image so that everyone know the difference.

Will there still be a cord with ball loop on the back that the coaming clips will go through to prevent it from folding forward? And, will it be low enough?

We do apologize for that. They did come in July but there was a mixup. The packaging was for the newer style, however, the actual seat that was placed inside was the old style. We are working on getting the newer style done as quickly as possible.

I received my Advanced Elements High Back (AE2013HB) seat about a week and half ago and tried it out last weekend in my Expedition. MUCH better. The best thing is when you get into the kayak you don't have to pull the back of the seat back into position because the new seat back is much higher than the cowling. It also has two pouches in the back of it. One for your patch kit and the other is designed for an extra bottle of water. There is also a velcro strap in the back for going through the cowling buckle. Much better than the cord and ball design. All in all, two thumbs up here. Better comfort and better support.

Amazon and all others still show pictures of the old model - how can we get the new one?
