Leaking zips

The AE convertible is an excellent kayak. The one design fault I have found is leaking zips - especially a problem on the convertible.

I have read the other thread on this topic and note advice given. I wondered if any other home solutions have been devised.

One help (though not a solution) may be (in the convertible) to have only one zip. Water tends to get in more readily at the join between the two zips. I wonder why AE has two zips.

Is it possible to get a more watertight zip? Are watertight zips such as a diver's zip out of the question cost-wise?

I do think even a velco cover over the zip areas would substantially reduce the ingress.

Just some suggestions. Any thoughts.
