Hello,
I am looking at the Straightedge and Convertible for:
-exercise
-solo use, but taking my small dogs out often (hence need a flat spot for them)
-on lakes (worst waves are generally boat wakes)
-an hour or so at a time, up to five times a day, over the course of a week (per trip)
My concerns are suitability for the above, plus:
-is one better for drying out (others will be using it and may not be entirely conscientious... it will be outside during the week)
-tracking/speed (how much of a difference is there?)
-is one much more puncture resistant on the top (small dogs...)
-is one prone to being wet on the floor (small dogs... they have doggie life jackets, but get cold if persistently wet)
-does one have better lower back support
Any help very much appreciated...

Convertible would be best suited for you. The StraitEdge is a sit on top kayak and better in rougher conditions.
Make sure you put extra padding or towels on the floor if you have a dog in there with you just in case so the nails don't puncture the floor.
Convertible is better for calm conditions and tracks better than the StraitEdge.
