Easier way to assemble kayak after cleaning?

I am a Newbie with kayaking. I recently bought a Advanced Elements Expedition kayak. I used it couple of times in a lake nearby, pretty happy with the purchase. I live in Michigan which is not so hot this time of the year so I de-assembled the kayak for drying after use. I am finding it tough to put the Holding Nut back on Spring Valve #1 when trying to re-assemble the kayak. Is there an easier or suggested way to do this?

With one hand, you need to reach inside the kayak and push from under the tube where the valve is. When you push it up, it will push it through the hole and make it easier to screw on the locking nut with your other hand.
