The Packlite looks like a good alternative for ultralight backpacking. Tell us more! Is it as tough as the inside part of a Firefly? Have you any videos of the Packlite in use? Will it be available through West Marine stores?
The AE3021 PackLite Kayak is designed to be an extremely compact and lightweight recreational inflatable kayak equipped with several unique features to make it the perfect ultra-light kayak for paddling in the most remote locations. It features our Twistlok valve for the floor and two one-way valves for the main chambers for easy inflation and compresses down for optimum packability. When out on the water, the mesh carry bag doubles as an on-deck gear bag for securing smaller items.
Length: 7'10"
Width: 35"
Weight: 4 lbs.
Max Capacity: 250 lbs.
chambers: 3
PVC Free
It basically is the innards of the firefly but beefed up. It is PVC free which helps make it so light. The material is reinforced and has rip-stop to give it durability. You don't have an outer cover so it is exposed but as long as you are aware of your surroundings and conditions, you'll be fine. Because there are 3 chambers, you are better protected in case one does get punctured.
