Otter photos

Going out on the water in my inflatable kayak is a great way to celebrate the new year! My friend John came along in his Delta kayak with his waterproof camera. It was a wonderful day to be on the water -- clear and cold, and almost no breeze.
John got some terrific photos of river otters playing on a rocky shore. Most of the otters that people see along the West Coast are river otters, even if they're in the ocean. It's really hard to get close to them, but John has a good lens on his camera, so it looks like he got much closer than he actually was.
