Depends on what you are doing. I would want one if I was in big water and the weather was cold/bad. For small lakes and or rivers I carry a big sponge.

Hey Jack, do you like the finder? I never used this one much. How is the accuracy and usefulness? I have been thinking about upgrading to a

Ohhh.... also you should go with the 10.5' advanced frame. It is plenty fast and if you have never paddled before it is easier to learn on a smaller boat... especially if you go on smaller rivers.

I was kind of in the same boat as you (no pun intended). I wanted a hardshell but living in Chicago I didn't have the space to store it. It was a tough call to buy an AE 10.5 without ever paddling it but after having taken it out a couple of times I would say I am pretty satisfied with it. One thing...

Use mouthwash to clean and sterilize your hydrator. After rinsing it out with hot water, take a shot of Listerene and swish in around the bladder and run it out the hose. Then rinse with cold water. That way you won't get a funky taste. Anyway, I rarely use even the mouthwash. If you rise it well wi...

It is a hummingbird RF 30 I think. I am not sure of the accuracy but it does an ok job of finding the depth.

Fish Finder?

I have been thinking about getting a Hummingbird fishfinder with the little green bobber-type transponder and tying it to a length of cord (like 30') which would allow me to paddle up to where I want to cast and then throw the transponder out. Anyone here have a better solution for using a fishfinde...

Pump Problem

So I finally broke down and bought a Advanced Frame 10.5 on Firday. At this point I love it. I have only two complaints so far: 1) The pump value on the inside of the cockpit (Valve #2) doesn't have a screw on cap attached to it. I am not sure if it comes this way or if they forgot to put on on mine...

Paddle Choice

Hi. I am buying a AE Frame 10.5 today (I think) and have been stressing myself out over paddle choice. This is my first 'yak but I have been paddling a canoe around some pretty fast moving rivers for years now. With the canoe, paddle choice didn't really make a big difference since we pretty much go...
