Im about 250 as well and there are no issues with the kayak turning into a taco. I don't use a backbone.

When the wife and I go tandem, she is about 160 and sits up front. There is no issue with us doing a wheelie. :D

What is the inflated thickness of the drop stitch floor vs the standard floor. Just wondering if it in any ways makes for more vertical leg room. Thanks.

From my experience with the wife it is possible to have enough space with the convertable for camping gear. That being said, I would prefer not to do it again. We ended up having a portage bag on the front and back deck. Small dry bag behind rear seat. Foot pump behind rear seat as well. I'm 5'10 an...

I done pieces of Lake Michigan in the Wisconsin Door County area. I have the AF Convertible. It worked very well. A little bit of "bending" on some swells but over all I really enjoyed. Im going do purchase the drop stitch floor for some more rigidness but I am guessing with the backbone you will be...

I wonder if it would be possible to utilize one of those aftermarket cupholders that you would buy for a car. For instance this one: http://www.amazon.com/American-Tech%C2%AE-Folding-Cup-Holder/dp/B000Q85240/ref=pd_sbs_auto_2 It almost looks like you could slip that under the bungy straps of the yak...

If anyone wants to know.....A good paddling trip in the Door County peninsula is going from Washington Island to Rock Island State Park. No cars allowed on Rock Island, so you can paddle out and camp there. Lots of good hiking too on Rock Island.

I have been following your progress of getting the kayaks and wow I don't know if I could wait and be as patient as you.

Hopefully you will get the kayaks this time around! I am very excited to hear about their first voyage and your experience.

Like a trolling motor?

I am sure you could...but any motor tends to be heavy and wouldn't that take the fun out of kayaking?

Yes, the Wal-Mart bag would be oversized for airline luggage. Does this mean the AE bag would fit airline limits? If so, the AE bag would pay for itself pretty quickly. Maybe it all depends on whether you want to use a rolling duffel bag for airline travel. Having "a place to put your stuff" (as th...

Rolling Duffle Bags

Hi, I had been searching for a while for a rolling duffle bag that would hold my Advanced Frame Convertible, paddles, PFDs, hand pump, and a few other misc things. I thought about buying the Advanced Elements rolling bag...but at $99.00 I thought it was too much. Plus I wouldn't have room for extra ...

Overnight Kayak Trips in Wisconsin?

Hi! Can anyone here recommend any overnight kayak excursions in Wisconsin. Preferably in the Door Couny area.

So far I know about Washington Island to Rock Island....are there any others in Door County?

Thanks a bunch...trying to plan a couple spring and summer trips.

Thanks for the quick reply....I figured that was the case. I did purchase dry roll up bags and those seem to work well thus far. I actually used one white water rafting this past weekend. Everyone else in the group is now going to get some of them for the yearly trip because zip locks just dont do t...
