I received the windpaddle and backbone. The backbone looks to be good quality and it even has a foam padding around it, something i did not expect. It attaches together like a paddle or an old windsurfing boom. The windpaddle is larger than I expected even though I ordered the smaller size but it is...

Re: KITES

I’ve give some thought to sails on kayaks as well. If you want to do any cross wind work, or even up wind, you stand a good chance of turning over. So I’ve been thinking of kites like the kite boarders use. Normal sized kites are probably way over powered, but they do make a training kite that ...

Wind Paddle

I just ordered the wind paddle and a backbone for the AF Expedition. Anyone have the wind paddle? Any tips on using it with the inflatable? thanks.

I tried to repair it again with glue alone. Let it sit for 30h before putting air in it. But it leaked again. So it looks like I will have to wait until the replacement tube comes in.

I did everything that you said except for the Tear-aid. I don't have any yet. I ordered some but it has not yet arrived.

Here is another picture that shows you what I am dealing with. I don't think it is repairable.

I tried to repair it like you said but it didn't work. Problem is holes are along seam. So you can not put a patch over it effectively. As soon as I put air in it the glue failed.

Re: Tear Aid in Canada

For everybody in Canada. Tear Aid is carry by West Marine. Shop in Vancouver, BC on West 2 Ave. has them on stock for ~12 $ Canadian. They have type B which we need and they have type A if you want some. I went to buy some there but they want $20 for shipping so I bought some here for $8 shipping.

Nice videos. I like this one. Also, where your paddle enters the water makes a difference. The farther away your paddle blade is from your kayak when it hits the water the less forward thrust you generate and the more your kayak will turn instead of stay straight. On the expedition I find I have to ...

Leak in my AE Expedition

Hi, I have leaks along the seam on the main inflation tube where it looks like the material is pulling away. The kayak is less than 2 months old so it is still under warranty. I have always used the AE inflation pump with the pressure gauge and have never filled it above 2 psi. Is this something I c...

I used to be a windsurfer for over 20 years. I used to go 30 to 40 mph on tiny windsurfing boards. Loads of fun. That sail looks like a great idea. Too bad you will only be able to use it going down wind. At the lake I was at recently the wind was against me all the way there and then changed direct...

Expedition Update

Well, I bought an expedition and tried it out on the weekend. I'm still getting used to it and how to adjust it properly. The first night I misunderstood the valve directions so I could not get enough air into the chamber. I thought the directions said to inflate you had to open the valve. I did not...
