Black Canyon Colorado River

We were picked up with our kayaks and gear from Willow Beach by Desert River Outfitters and then transported to the put in at the base of the Dam. The river itself is quite cold, and extremely clear. The mountains ...

I own 3 of the straigtedge solo yaks. I first saw the straightedge solo in use with a guy catching a large marlin from one, and that impressed me alot. My son, now 16 and my wife both paddle the straight edge solos too. My wife is very petite, and she handles the boat fine. When my wife is in a hard...

Rod holders

Ian, http://picasaweb.google.com/minerj7/20091102RodHolder# These original photos show the rod holder mounted in the center, to allow for the zipper to be the opening through which the holder was inserted into the base. It was very awkward though, since I had to twist around too far to get the rod i...

Photo insertion

Ian, for some reason, when I paste the image code in, it does not display the image on the forum, only the line for it, and only some of the photo bucket images. So I put in the direct link this time, some with picasa and others with photo bucket. Any other suggestions on how to get the images into ...

Kokanee Salmon

My wife knows how frustrated I've been lately... it's been cold, we have had alot of snow this year, and since I don't enjoy sitting next to a hole in the ice, it has been about 4 months since I got to fish. Yesterday, I had to work in a city about 2 1/2 hours from home, which is very close to the S...

Pearly... Hey, I was wondering how you are able to mount your photos into here?

I purchased the "cruiser" windpaddle, the larger of the two models. Have been practicing the fold up routine with it. Due to it's size, while sitting in the kayak, it is a bit difficult to fold up. Haven't tried the smaller one, but I would imagine it would be a bit easier to handle.

I mounted a trolling motor on one of my Straightedge kayaks (Straightedge single). but I didn't care for the results. I don't know what the difference is in the hulls of the boats, but the Staightedge kayak is fairly short. As a result, it didn't track at all well with the electric trolling motor. I...

Hey Alex, great thoughts on the rod holder. I too would prefer two rod holders, and in fact I have a second one already. I thought about mounting them on the same "deck" and having holes through the fabric, for the Scotty holders to fit through... I just can't bring myself to cut holes in the fabric...

Ian, thanks for sharing your designs for the fish finder frame. I incorporated your design for my fishfinder and came up with a similar solution for the rod holder I thought you might be interested in... http://picasaweb.google.com/minerj7/20091102RodHolder# As you can see, there is no obstruction f...

Thanks

Pearly, I've really enjoyed your thread. I've owned AE Straightedge kayaks for about 3 years now (used mostly for whitewater, but am getting tired of getting wet and I love to fish) and am really happy with the quality of these boats, and just bought the AF Expedition. Looking forward to employing y...
