Why it is not recommended for coastal paddling? Is it because being lightweight is unreliable in windy conditions? Less rugged than the A1012? Cannot be paddled with a spry skirt? Thanks. 1. It has one chamber design whereas the AE1012-R is a two chamber design. One chamber is not recommended for c...

This is something AE is looking into. The reason it hasn't been done in the past is there hasn't been a demand. But it makes sense so we will see where this goes.

Re: interchangeable BB

Snook wrote:Can a 4 section BB from a Convertible be used in a AE Frame 1012 using just 3 sections?
I know this was from awhile ago, but no, it cannot. The pieces are different sizes and 3 pieces from the AE2023-AFC Backbone will not equal the required length for the AE1012 kayak.

Only if it is under inflated. I have pushed the weight limits by throwing gear, coolers, kids, etc into it, and it holds firm as long as the pressure is where it is supposed to be. I usually inflate, let it sit in the water for 10 minutes, then top it off. I then monitor it during the day, especiall...

No, I have never heard of such a thing. I think you would be fine as long as you don't smear food on the kayak or leave food in it.

It is a great boat for carrying gear. If you are looking for performance like the Advanced Frame, not as much.
You cannot use a backbone with this kayak.
I personally use it when camping. Great for tendering gear to secluded locations.

Re: AE Sport

Thanks for your suggestion; indeed I am considering also the AE Ultralite because of the weight which is also important for us. I am not finding much feedback on this model however. Before turning to a fully inflatable short kayak I'd like to read more from users. Unfortunately, as far as I can tel...

The best method would be to have two cable setups. One for tandem and one for Solo. You could get creative and use a cable linking system where you could possibly take out a section of the cable to convert from tandem to solo but you can possibly run into the issue of kinking. We have not tried this...

It is hard to tell if you are showing just the bottom of the kayak. Flip it over. Pick it up from either end. If it bends, you need more air in the main chamber. If it doesn't bend, you are good to go. Make sure for the floor you add only 1 psi. You can tell by applying moderate pressure to the floo...

When trying to slide the locking sleeve, you need to push down on the poles to line them up straight. There is a misconception that the poles need to come up. That causes them to become unaligned making it difficult to slide the sleeve. The way the poles are designed is they stretch out the cover so...

Make sure the kayak is deflated enough so when you push the button on the shaft, you are able to pull it apart and slide it either forward towards the Bow or backwards toward the Stern. A partial deflation may not be enough because the blade gets hung up on the tube still. Another trick is when you ...

The 1044 is made specifically for one retailer only and that is www.airkayaks.com. It is not made for anyone else.
Advanced Elements does specific models for a few customers based on the specs the customers wish to go with.
