Mounting a GoPro camera

Post by oguiang » Mon Apr 01, 2013 10:41 pm

Couple of questions.....Has anyone tried mounting a GoPro camera in an Advanced Frame kayak? If so, can you give me some insight on how you managed it?

Secondly, does anyone have experience on using the Accessory Frame Mounting system? Looks like you have to cut holes into your kayak. Curious how hard this is to install. I think this would work for mounting a GoPro but am very leery about cutting holes. Here's the link to the Accessory Frame:

My paddling friend John uses a GoPro with a couple of ways of mounting it. You can see many (many!) of his photos at our paddling website Kayak Yak (http://kayakyak.blogspot.ca) If you write a comment on one of John's recent posts, he will read it and reply to you.

Really easy to add the Accessory Frame System to your kayak and it would definitely do the job with mounting a GoPro. You actually do not need to cut holes in your AdvancedFrame to set up the Accessory Frame, it's just an option for a cleaner looking install. You can set it up on your kayak one of two ways: (1) Glue the mounting grommets right on the the deck of the kayak or (2) Cut holes and mount the grommets from under the deck for a cleaner more integrated look. The accessory frame kit comes with templates that make it really easy to make the holes if you choose to do it this way.
