Do I use DAWN dishwasher soap or what is suggested? I definitely don't want to destroy integretity of deck or hull. :cry:

Yep, just water and dish soap, that's what I do and it's worked well for me.

A mild dishwashing soap solution works just fine.
This tends to remove the factory standard silicon based dirt and water repellent .
I treated mine after the first washing with 303 Fabric guard which repels water as wel as dirt and oil based stains , this makes future cleaning really easy as the dirt just rinses off with plain water, it seems to coat every fibre with a sort of teflon non stick and the water seems to just pearl off .
Just rinse off towel dry and pack away.

I find that just a damp terrytowel cloth with no soap is often enough to clean my AE kayaks.
It's a good idea to put on a coat of 303 Fabric Guard when the boat is clean and dry... after that, muck tends to wipe off really easily.
