Hosing the Kayak

We kayak in the ocean.
Is it important to hose the kayak with fresh water afterwards?
We don't have a water hose where we kayak. We just let the kayak dry and then pack it away.
I'd rather not have to inflate it again at home and hose unless I really have to.

yes, it is best to rinse the kayak down with fresh water after salt water use. This will prevent any funky smells.

Yes definitely rinse down well, especially all metal parts - the aluminium ribs front & back, zips etc. Also leave it dry before you pack it away. When I get home after using it I open it up (but not inflate) and give it a good rinse.

If salt water gets inside the kayak, it's a good idea to rinse the boat inside and out with fresh water.
I just use my garden hose and rinse off my kayaks in my yard. Then I use a towel to soak up as much of the water as I can from inside the boat.
The worry is about zippers and the frame.
