AE-1007 BB query

Post by yaka2b » Fri May 16, 2014 3:41 pm

While I understand the BB improves tracking in rough water conditions, would it also provide the added advantage of allowing one to use a lower pressure in the chambers?

I reckon, as the backbone provides additional support, the tubes need not be that rigid so can be pressurized a little below the recommended 2-2.5 psi.

Any feedback?

Cheers

I think that would be defeating the object of having the backbone in the first place .
Because the BB is held in place each end by tube pressure means the bow and stern of the kayak are then joined by an aluminium tube under tension forming a bridge and the hull a hydrodynamic concave V shape , increasing tracking and speed in all conditions .
You may also find that the BB could slip out of place if the hull tube pressure is to low , causing tracking problems.
Just go for around 2.2 psi and use an inline pressure gauge which is useful for equalizing the pressure between the chambers whilst inflating .
