Bent Rear Tracking Fin

Post by poiuyebay » Tue Sep 23, 2008 8:22 pm

I've left my Kayak partially inflated on my floor for about two weeks before I set out to the lake. After fully inflating the kayak and just about to go out to the water, I noticed that the rear bottom fin (tracking fin?) was bent to the left I tried to bend it back in the other direction but it remained bent at a 45 degree angle.

Does it affect the tracking of the kayak? I paddled against choppy waters that day so I can't tell if it made a difference. And should I stop storing the kayak right side up? Thanks for any info

It is so small that it does not make tht big of a difference. To get it back to straight, leave the kayak upside down in the sun for a little while. The sun usually softens the fin up and it will move back into position. You can also bend it easier once it is softer.
