I've recently purchased a backbone for my AdvancedFrame and I was unable to find a cheaper price than $70. I've never seen them on sale either. My best advice is to keep checking Ebay. Also check out different sites and compare tax and shipping charges.
$90 for the expedition backbone is well worth the improvement it makes. Good Luck searching and happy paddling.

Would recommend www.airkayaks.com. Have purchased 4 boats over the last couple years and now a couple back bones. Has been the best price I have been able to find and the service was great.
