I've been out on lakes before but after relocating back to Malta (Europe) last year I have finally been out on sea where I bought the kayak for.
It was only a quick trip round a bay, more to ensure all is still in order after being shipped and packed up for a while.
First impressions are very good. The AE is very stable and tracks excellently - I have the backbone and have not been out without it. The sea was pretty calm but it handled the waves from speedboats better than I'd expected.
I took my dad out who's not getting any younger but at one point we built up a really good speed, most of the time I forgot I was in an iflatable, performance really is on a par with rigid hull kayaks.
I have the AE pop up sail which I wanted to try but the wind was not behind us so I'll reserve judgement. However I'm a keen sailor so will probably look for a proper (upwind) sailkit with outriggers. Speaking of wind, there wasn't all that much but I got the feeling the kayak will catch wind in a stif breeze.
This year no big plans in mind with a 1 year old baby, but looking forward to future camping trips around and on neighbouring islands.
Overall very happy with an excellent product.
Cheers
Steve
