Backbone for AdvancedElements AdvancedFrame Expedition

I purchased an AdvancedFrame Expedition and backbone last summer. I'm not sure how it happened, but after one of my last excursions of the season, the ends of the backbone became misaligned; that is, when I snap the ends into place, one end is rotated at about 45 degrees vis a vis the other end.

I'm planning on getting back into the water this coming week, and was wondering whether it's advisable to try to rotate the ends back into alignment (with a vise on a workbench), or whether I should request that a new backbone be sent to me.

Incidentally, I purchased my products via Amazon.com.
